Kiwanis Club of Orlando
Celebrating 100 years and Counting!
The Kiwanis Club of Orlando, one of Central Florida's most active and involved community service organizations, celebrated 100 years of helping children in 2021! The club has contributed more than $7.5 million to community organizations in addition to countless thousands of hours of volunteer time.
Thank you for your interest in the Kiwanis Club of Orlando Foundation. Our primary mission is to support programs and activities that help less fortunate children and youth in the Orange County, Florida area.
Our Foundation’s grants are by invitation only. Unsolicited proposals will not be accepted and are subject to automatic disqualification from our application process. Invitation to submit grant proposals does not imply or guarantee funding.
Again, thank you for your interest and we wish your organization much success in the future.
The Kiwanis Club of Orlando got started with Dueling Dragons, when Orange County Sheriff John Mina, who was the Chief of the Orlando Police Department at the time, was the speaker at one of our club’s weekly meetings. After his presentation, we asked how our club could help. He said google Dueling Dragons. We did and after that, we started supporting them in several ways: we bought them a couple dragon boats, we provide meals for after their practices, we provided scholarships for their alumni and in 2016, we had our first Kiwanis Korntoss for Kids fundraiser.
Our Kiwanis members love DD for many reasons: first, the relationships the DD kids have with the officers, deputies and first responders is life changing — they make lifelong friends; second, they learn to paddle in sync with their mentor/partners to keep the dragon boat going in a straight line; third, they compete in international competitions in other states — for many of them that is the first time going outside of Florida or flying on a plane. And finally, DD requires these kids to stay out of trouble, stay in school, and keep at least a 2.0 grade point average.
The Orlando Day Nursery, (ODN) provides high-quality learning experiences at affordable rates. ODN's goal is to provide a loving, nurturing, and enriching space for their children (and their families), supporting them to reach their highest potential as lifelong learners and compassionate citizens.
ODN is conveniently located in the heart of Orlando, close to the downtown area. They offer care for children from six-weeks-old through VPK with their Infant class, One-Year-Old’s class, Two-Year-Old’s class, Two-and-Three-Year-Old’s transition class, Three-Year-Old’s class, and Voluntary PreKindergarten (VPK) class for four- and five-year-old’s.
The Kiwanis Club of Orlando and the Kiwanis Club of Orlando Foundation support the ODN by providing its building and financial support for operating maintenance.
The Orlando Day Nursery offers a truly unique learning experience that is beneficial for their children, families, and community.
